SWINDON’S David Howell has qualified for the US Open for the sixth time in his career.
The Broome Manor pro was among five players that came through a six-man play-off at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey this evening.
He sunk a 15-foot birdie at the first extra hole to secure his passage to the $8,000,000 tournament next month.
Howell had earlier fired three-under-par overall on the new and old courses at the Surrey venue.
The 37-year-old was one of 12 players from the 94-strong field who progressed to Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
