CHARLES Pennington was the winner of the Events Logic UK ¾ Triathlon held at Cotswold Water Park on Sunday.

Despite the sweltering conditions, more than 200 athletes competed during the day with three endurance events taking place overall.

The ¾ distance triathlon was the first event up and competitors took on a 1100m swim, 30km bike ride and a 7.5km run.

Pennington led coming out of the lake while Wendy Nicholls was in front in the women’s equivalent.

A gutsy ride saw Pennington still in top spot come the second transition, while Nicholls also kept her stranglehold on top spot.

Pennington charged through the running leg to triumph in 1:22:29.60 and Nicholls became women’s champion in 1:37:52.75.

The second event of the day was the aqua bike which saw competitors complete an 1100m swim and a 30km bike ride.

Gethin Musk was the winner of the men’s race in 1:05:04.05 while Claire Valance claimed the women’s crown in 1:06:58.65.

The final contest was the novice duathlon and the men and women’s winners were Nathon Dutor (50:41.10) and Hannah Tremlin (55:23.15) respectively.

The next event for Events Logic UK is an Olympic distance tri to be held on the weekend of August 3-4 at Lake 62 at Cotswold Water Park.
