NEW Swindon signing Michael Crisp would love to get into double figures in appearances for the Wildcats this season.

The netminder is aware that he faces a near-impossible task to displace Stevie Lyle as Swindon’s number one gloveman.

But Crisp is hoping that he will get his chance to prove himself at EPL level, having played for Cardiff Satans in the NIHL last term.

“As it’s my first year in the EPL I am hoping for around the 10-game mark,” said Crisp.

“It’s a better league than I was in last year and that will help move my game forward.

“Swindon seemed like a good place to play and for me it will be about waiting for my chance and taking it when it comes.

“It’s a long season and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to Stevie, but these things do happen.”

Welshman Crisp first became interested in a move to Swindon after hearing that long-time pal Adam Harding, who he knew from his time at Cardiff, had signed a two-way deal.

A number of players with links to the Devils joined the Wildcats this summer, including Sam Smith and Alex Symonds.

“I made contact with Stevie after I found out my good buddy Adam Harding was playing for Swindon,” said Crisp.

“I grew up playing hockey with Adam and there’s actually a lot of Cardiff people playing at Swindon this year, so it shouldn’t be difficult to settle in.

“I played with Stevie when I was in Cardiff and he was one of my heroes from when I started watching the Devils.

“He’s been round the hockey scene for a long time and he’s a great guy to learn from.”
