IT IS not just Swindon Town that are two games from Wembley.

Brook Field Primary School boys and Dorcan Academy girls won the npower League One Kids Cup and Girls Cup local finals respectively at Croft Sports Centre recently.

Both teams are now two matches away from stepping out on English football’s hallowed turf.

Some 40 schools entered the two competitions and in the boys’ section, Brook Field fired home two late goals to defeat Goddard Park Primary School in the final.

In the girls’ competition, Dorcan met reigning champions Kingsdown School in the last two, with nine girls from the STFC Girls’ Centre For Excellence split between them.

Lauren Doble pulled off a number of heroic saves to help Dorcan through to regionals and take another step towards winning the national title they won in 2007.

Dorcan head of PE Wendy Craig said: “The girls are buzzing. They have worked so hard and are now looking forward to representing their school and STFC in the next round at Oxford.”

STFC Football in the Community Trust manager Clive Maguire said: “This was one of the best competitions that we have run here in Swindon and with Wembley as the main prize, the players have a opportunity to achieve their dreams of playing on the hallowed turf.”
