ALUN Rossiter is hoping to get his reign as Great Britain manager off to a winning start when the tapes rise on the 2014 season this Sunday at Leicester (2pm).
Having taken over the control of Team GB over the winter, Rossiter will take his team to Beaumont Park to take on the Rest of the World side in the season-opening Ben Fund Bonanza.
The Swindon boss is hoping to see some of his riders lay down a marker and cement themselves in his thoughts early in the season.
And although he admits the result is not too important, he is hoping to see his side start the campaign with a confidence-boosting win.
Rossiter said: "Of course it's going to be a very exciting day to get the new season underway.
"Obviously it's only a challenge meeting but I'm sure there are going to be plenty of riders out there looking to impress.
"I appreciate it's the first meeting of the season so I can't read too much into things but I'm sure a few of the boys will be wanting to make a point by putting in good performances.
"It would be nice to come away with a win to make sure we start 2014 as we mean to go on, and we are all looking forward to finally getting going after a long winter."
Swindon's Nick Morris has been named in the Rest of the World team.
Team GB: Tai Woffinden, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Danny King, Craig Cook, Kyle Howarth, Richie Worrall and Ben Barker
Rest of the World: Bjarne Pedersen, Josh Grajczonek, Adam Skornicki, Cameron Woodward, Ty Proctor, Patrick Hougaard, Nick Morris and Morten Risager
