PREDICTIONS LEAGUE: Swindon Town v Wolves
For the third time in a row, the Town let a winning position slip away. I don’t think they will do that against Wolves as I don’t think they will get into a winning position. Wolves are on fire at the moment. They have won 8 on the bounce, scoring 19 goals with only 1 goal conceded. Swindon have only won 1 in their last 8 game scoring 7 goals and conceding 11.
After the defeat at the weekend, the Town are all but out of the running for the final play-off spot. While it is still mathematically possible, it will need a monumental set of results by Swindon and need Posh and MK Dons to slip up. We will need about 27 more points from the remaining 11 games. We just need to win 9 matches between now and the end of the season.
In reality, this season has been about shaping the squad ready for next season. Yes, we have been in with a shout of the play-offs most of the time, but we just lack that little bit extra in defense and in front of goal. A few more chances ending up in the back of the net and less of the loose passes ending up with the ball in the back of our own net and we would probably have another 10 or 12 points. While we are not the finished article, it all bodes well for next season.
