Morris regains Somerset spot

Swindon Advertiser: Nick Morris Nick Morris

NICK Morris will begin the season in the Premier League after being re-signed by Somerset today.

The young Australian looked set to miss out on second tier racing after the Rebels let him go earlier in the winter to accommodate Brady Kurtz’ average, but the Oak Tree Arena side have now released Ty Proctor in favour of bringing a member of last season’s league winning team back into the team.

Robins boss Alun Rossiter was always confident Morris would be fixed up with a Premier League spot sooner rather than later, but didn’t expect it to happen quite so quickly.

“It’s great news for Nick because riding in both leagues and having time on the bike is crucial for his development,” he said.

“I always said to him he would be sorted out soon enough but I didn’t really expect it to happen quite so quickly.

“Somerset is just down the road and there’s a great set-up there so it should all work out well.”

Unlike in previous years, the Robins will now have first call on Morris’ services when the two sides have fixture clashes.
