The service is so slow, they must lose £100's at least per game and i think it really does need addressing.
Also why £2.10 for a small bottle of coke is £2.00 not sufficient!

Sounds like were lucky to still be in this game Tranmere seem to have had plenty of chances and our defence seems to be struggling without Troy. Lets hope he is back on Saturday. Take a point at the moment but win would ne nice. Lee Cox has just come on for Gladwin. Blimey Tranmere have just hit the bar again were having plenty of luck tonight.

With Peterborough in the paint pot the weekend we could be a point away from them I wonder if the players want to send a message to Cooper after he said the play offs were over, mmmmm I wonder.

Well done Town, well done Miles Storey. The last three games have seen a change in fortunes and team spirit. All of this brings about a bit of needed and most welcome confidence into the team . Look forward to Troy being back in as soon as possible because we are so much better with him. Very pleased to see Gladwin included again, vital experience being played in games such as this.
I must admit to having some sympathy for Tranmere as a club, and their Aldridge days now just a memory, enduring the same sort of history as us in a few ways. I have more time for them and their rich history and contribution to the League than some of the clubs like Franchise. I hope their good fortunes return soon, as long as its not to our detriment.

Never had a problem with the so called Doomster's as I am naturally pessimistic and the first thing I look for is 50 points to ensure safety. I do have a problem with constant calls to change things because we lose a few or go on a bad run. Luck plays a massive part in sport and it sounds like we got some tonight and Tranmere were on the receiving end. Our turn.

I'm more pleased for Mark because he has stuck by his guns, or Lee's as some may like to say, but when is all is said and done the result was 2-1 in our favour and we should ALL be happy.

Can we make play-offs, still IMO NO but there is still a chance. Do we want Play-offs ? Bl00dy right I do, two/three more games to watch :-) Are we ready ? No, but could we be ?

Win on Saturday and we dent United's chance and improve ours. Should we get behind the team with 7 games to go and forget the Doomster/Happy Clappers split ?

Bl00dy right we should. Saturday is now a massive game.

Cooper mentioned after the game that Lee Cox who came on for Gladwin after 63 minutes was outstanding and could well have put himself back into the shop window. We had an average age of 21.8 tonight and Cooper said we showed Desire, Energy and good football. Well the youngsters are certainly grabbing the opportunity with both hands and long may it continue Don't think we will see Ward again, nice guy and model professional but father time has caught up with him I'm afraid.
Well done the young chargers and young manager.

DKO,

I think your quote "nice guy and model professional" says a lot and should be considered by some. I admire the guy as he has stayed and hopefully guided a young group. If, as I suspect he has done this, then I hope, even if he has played his last game, he is remembered for it and becomes a well respected part of our back room staff (much like Paul Bodin).

Well what can I say? 3 results that went completely the opposite way than I expected. Well done lads and credit where it's due to Mark Cooper. And no I am being negative, but can anyone remind me when we last beat SUFC?

Also I did not get chance to comment on the best STFC eleven the other day, was there no mention of Duncan Shearer? And showing my age now but as a kid I loved David Moss.

Last time we beat SUFC was this Saturday :-)

David Moss was a Town legend IMO and showed it with his performances at the top level with Luton. My type of player, can't beat an attacking winger IMO.

Probably the last time I go to watch Town at Tranmere. Get lost every time and ended up crossing the Mersey 3 bleeding times! Got there to find I'd just missed Smith's goal and Tranmere scored as I took my seat!

Still, what a great result and if Miles meant it, what a goal!

Positives for me:
Another first class performance from Fods. My MoM. He kept us in the game in the first half and pulled off an absolutely blinding save from point blank. Even the Rovers players congratulated him.

Thompson and McEverley had very good games, both looking like the finished article and Lee Cox added dynamism to midfield when he came on.

Less positive:
For much of the match the rest of the team looked very lightweight to me. Yasser and Mass did warm up as the game went on but Gladwin, Branco, Stephens and Miles all looked like young, fragile pros. Alex Smith dipped in and out and the other Smith showed the usual endeavour with the usual poor first touch. Reckord performed a very skilful back flip to kick the ball away and get booked.

Delighted we won, my second of the season, but have to say we were very fortunate. No surprise that Tranmere are where they are, should have won comfortably but lost.

Thought the ref was good tonight, let the game flow until he had to go off injured.

Looking forward to my next game, my first home game of the season, against Rotherham. Here's hoping there's still something on it. Who knows?

Couldn't agree more, I've said it before, a season too far maybe, but a very illustrious career. Hope he takes part in his kit for the lap of honour at our last home game. Wish him well with his coaching badges, and like others have said a good role model for the back room team at CG.

I'm with you Oxon. I'd have a fit Williams in over Storey any day. Yes, Williams missed a few chances but his work rate and team contribution were usually immense - and he did score goals. I really don't understand the Storey bandwagon. He's been around a long time now and hasn't really improved, as everyone keeps saying he will. His main shortcoming seems to be a lack of power in the end product. Can any amount of coaching change that? Several Town managers haven't managed to do it.

Useful win last night. Congrats to Smith and Storey on their goals. We can rest easier now and plan for next season.

Williams cost us a fortune and delivered nothing - simply got a massive payday off one decent half season!

LR, you seem to have a rather bitter downer on Williams. I think you would find that his strike rate is better than Storey's, he is certainly stronger, probably faster and to my knowledge he's never given less than 100%. To say he "delivered nothing" is a gross insult. Perhaps you weren't watching while he was busting a gut for us. A prolific striker? No - but there are not too many of them about.

Strange how you will happily defend the inclusion of players from the top flight who pu55yfoot around for us without delivering any end product and yet you'll declare that a hardworking professional "delivered nothing" for Swindon Town.

Never given less than 100% - so you were not at Brentford in the POs then where Williams was a disgrace to say the least!

Yes I don't rate Williams at all - He may have run a bit but did not delvier what he was paid to do - and paid an absolute fotune to not do it too!

I'm not looking at his strike rate against Storey's as its not a comaprable set of stats - maybe at the end of both their careers might be

But comapring a 28 year old pro who was signed as our main striker to a kid coming through the ranks is just ridiculous!

Storey is much cheaper and has potential to develop and that is why I would have him in the squad over Williams - he was herer at the start but was got shot of for a reason!

Haha! Stats are good most of the time but not this time!

Must admit I'd forgotten how poor Williams was at Brentford but that's just one game. And don't forget the club was already in turmoil then and he probably knew his days were numbered. But yes, I do remember being unhappy with his performance.

Not going to debate the detail as I don't see the point. The bottom line is that Williams brought more to the team than Storey does so unless and until Storey adds a bit more to his game I will see him as a far less effective option. We can't keep including players on the basis that they have potential. Sam's comment in today's ratings was that Storey was shrugged off the ball too easily last night. I have no axe to grind against him but I think that lack of power to complement his pace is what holds him back.

Don, everything you say may be true but it's missing the point - unless you are telling us that Storey would have done better with the chances Williams missed. I'm not saying Williams is a great striker and I don't suppose LR is saying Storey is a great striker either. We are just comparing the two. I have a pretty simple view of it. Williams is the better striker and has the better all round game. Perhaps you share LR's confidence in Storey's future. For now, I'm pretty sure most opposition defenders would rather be trying to look after Storey than keep Williams in check.

The debate followed on from that. It does seem strange that Williams is viewed with ridicule while Storey is seen almost as a hero waiting to happen.

Don, the original comparison was Oxon's:

"Williams had pace, more than Miles IMO, but was ridiculed yet Miles is a special talent !!!!"

The debate followed on from that. It does seem strange that Williams is viewed with ridicule while Storey is seen almost as a hero waiting to happen.
.....just as Billy Bodin was, and I am afraid that I think Miles may prove to be a very similar case

I knew I was right about Miles Storey. If only if people had listened, especially the manager.
You also said we would lose to City and PNE.

As for the Williams and Storey debate, you can not at this particular moment compare.
Williams gets unfair stick IMO, If you are going to say Brentford for a poor performance i will counter that with his goal at Bournemouth as a plus!
Those of us that were there will certainly not forget it.
Also in his defense he was never one of PDC's favorites either was he and we know what happens there don't we!
Plus he was played as winger a lot of the time.
I also hope Storey becomes the next best thing for, but like others we will see.

I don't see him as a god in waiting at all!
.
I'm simply taking a fair few different factors into account - Age, Wages, Resale Value, Potential etc etc
.
When you add them all up - it simply comes out that Storey is far less of a risk or cost to STFC than keeping Williams would be
.
Maybe its unfair that he gets judged on being given a ridiculous wage - but you come in as the main man earning top whack - then you have to deliver and he simply didn't deliver
.
Should Storey stay, start to play regularly and see his pay rise with it - I'm sure fans expectations on what he should be delivering will shift with that
.
If he then continues to be seen as lightweight or not scoring enough - then I'm sure he will get stick too

You joking?
.
Williams was clearly a PdC favourite - thus he played so much even when be a non scoring forward
.
Look at Collins - who scored way more from much less pitch time - yet was always in and out and mainly out and you can see AW was clearly a favourite!

I was just talking about what we have seen on the pitch. On that basis - and assuming both players are fit - Williams would carry far more of a threat to the opposition. It's probably all academic though. I doubt that we'll see much of either from now on.

Interesting to read the debate following my comment. Having read the comments I side with Den. When Williams was brought To Town by Paolo he had finished in the top 6 League 1 scorers with 17 goals for Yeovil who had finished in the bottom half. His asset was his pace, which many have attributed to Storey as his biggest asset.

I have yet to see Miles create a chance for himself as a result of that pace but I saw Williams do it countless times. He did miss a lot of chances, IMO no more than most , but a large number were created by himself. I do not deny that Miles is young and can improve but he needs to learn how best to use the pace he has.

My comment was in answer to certain posters hailing Miles as a saviour when at the moment he is not and it is more down to them backing themselves up. I want Miles to succeed because he is a Town player not because he is a Town youth player and beyond criticism. He has a lot to learn and his work rate is nowhere near that of Williams, perhaps he reads how wonderful he is on here. Given the choice I know which of the two would start if I was picking the team.

Miles is young and can improve but needs to work at it. IMO he will not be a 20+ a season striker but with hard work maybe he could be. I think the two goals against Villa and his winner against Coventry are being remembered before his other appearances.

LR you remember Williams's appearance against Brentford but obviously did not go on Saturday. You remember his missed chances but fail to recognise how many of those he created for himself. When Miles creates something for himself IMO you will have a reason to judge the two players. Williams went on loan to save the club money but he did not go lower he went higher to the Championship, that speaks volumes (and I know it was the team we signed him from but does that really matter).
