A SWINDON man has qualified to be a part of the England Seniors pool side.
Jason Godbeer, who has been playing local, county and tournament pool for 30 years, will now have the chance, at 51, to represent his country.
Known as ‘Sonic’ amongst Swindon’s pool fraternity, Godbeer’s path to international recognition has been a long one.
However, following a prolific year, during which he has claimed league, team knockout, doubles and singles titles with the Village Inn team, the current Wiltshire champion has earned his shot at national service.
He said: “Having achieved a trial for England’s men’s team back in 1996, which wasn’t successful, I now would like to make the most of this opportunity representing my country and I’m looking forward to an undoubtedly challenging period ahead of me.
“I would like to thank all the many players from Swindon and Wiltshire over the years because without the table time everybody gives each other, what would we achieve?”
