LEVI Cox scored twice as Wootton Bassett Town beat doomed Newbury 3-1 at the Corinium last night.
Wideman Cox struck once in each half to see off the visitors, with a late own goal giving Jeff Roberts’ side a comfortable victory by the end.
The result does little for Bassett’s league position but it does move them further away from Shrivenham and Cheltenham Saracens in 15th and 16th.
Elsewhere in Hellenic League Division One West Gareth Davies’ Malmesbury Victoria played their final game of the season, drawing 3-3, meaning they finish their league campaign in 12th place.
Tonight Shrivenham take on Cheltenham Saracens at Barrington Park. Sam Collier’s side have played the Gloucestershire side twice already this season, both winning a game apiece. If the visitors pick up three points tonight they will go above Shrivvy.
