SWINDON Dolphin will be hoping to retain their Young Sports Teams of the Year award this month.
The Milton Road-based club, who won the title last year, have once again enjoyed a stellar year in the pool, sending a number of swimmers to the National Championships in Sheffield.
And they saw several of their members return home with new personal bests.
Dolphin ended 2014 in style when they won the Arena League Western Division One title to secure promotion to the Premier Division.
Swindon Tigersharks will be hoping that they can pip their town rivals to the coveted award. The Milton Road club, who have been in the spotlight due to Jazz Carlin’s impressive performances at the Commonwealth Games, European Championship and the World Short Course Championship, and had two members compete in the open water national; championships in the summer.
Swindon Youth will be looking to make it a treble in 2014 after securing the league and cup titles. Ady Wilkinson’s side were crowned the winners of the under 15s Midland Junior Premier League back in the spring before defeating West Midlands-based Romulus in the Major Cup Final.
This season, at under 16s, the Swindon side are third with two games in hand on leaders Saffron Dynamo.
Croft Reds Juniors under 11s have been seeing off all comers over the past two season. Coach of the Year nominee Martin Hutchinson has led the side to league and cup doubles in both those campaigns.
