THE asking price for Swindon wing-back Nathan Byrne could affect a move away from the County Ground.

Reports emerged over the weekend linking the former Tottenham trainee with a move to Premier League outfit West Brom and sources close to the player have not rubbished those rumours at this stage.

Pulis is said to have made pace in wide areas a priority for his recruitment and was at the County Ground to oversee Town’s League One play-off semi-final against Sheffield United.

A couple of Championship clubs have enquired about the player but a stumbling block for negotiations could be the value of the wing-back, with a figure of £2m being reported.

Byrne, 22, who was named in the League One team of the year this season, has his fine form at the end of the season to thank for thrusting him into the consideration of many clubs.

However with a reported 50 per cent sell on clause in his contract Town chairman Lee Power will be looking to get the best price to ensure a good deal for the club.
