YEOVIL have parted company with former Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock after less than eight months in the job, as the club languish bottom of Sky Bet League Two.

Sturrock replaced acting manager Terry Skiverton in April but Yeovil have gone 12 games without a league win following last Saturday's defeat at Northampton.

First-team coach Darren Way has been appointed interim manager and he will be assisted by Skiverton.

"We are very sad that the board had to reach this decision and we thank Paul for his hard work during his time at Huish Park," chairman John Fry in a statement on the club's official website.

"We wish him well for the future, however we all felt that in the light of recent results we had no alternative. We will now begin our search for a new manager."

Sturrock took charge of his eighth different club - he has had two spells as Plymouth manager - when installed at Huish Park and has won promotion five times, but was unable to save the club from relegation in May.

Yeovil finished bottom of League One last term and have never recovered from a poor start this season after losing five of their first six matches.

With Sturrock in charge, Town were promoted from League Two to League One in the 2006-07 season.
