ON LOAN duo Michael Doughty and Darnell Furlong are being linked with a return to parent club Queens Park Rangers.

The pair are on season-long loans from Loftus Road but having impressed new manager Ian Holloway earlier this season, a clause in their deal could be triggered and they could depart prematurely.

Doughty has been an influential player for Town this term, having returned for a second stint at the club back in August.

The 24-year-old made a fine start to the season, scoring or assisting in all but two of his first 11 appearances of the season.

However, appendix surgery lead to a long period on the sidelines and has restricted him to just 15 appearances, netting three times.

Meanwhile, Furlong has made 25 appearances, scoring two goals, since arriving just two days after playing Swindon in the EFL Cup in August.

Holloway was part of the Sky punditry team when Swindon turned in one of their performances of the season in beating Charlton Athletic 3-0, just a day after the former Blackpool and Crystal Palace manager had replaced Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at the Championship side.

Holloway spoke highly of his two players in the wake of the match and according to West London Sport, is now looking to bring them back as he looks to arrest a run of five games without a win.

“I watched Darnell Furlong and Michael Doughty. I was buzzing. They played so well the both of them,” Holloway said.

“It was like, ‘wow!’. Fantastic. They’re tender but the young one (Doughty) has got 140 games under his belt already.

“When I met them afterwards it was just fantastic. And if I can help young Furs after I helped old Furs – it’s just unbelievable.

“Furs (Paul Furlong) got hammered and I stood up for him. I told people to come to my garden and take me on. You’ve got to stand up for your players.”
