UWE Rosler felt the introduction of Ben Gladwin to proceedings in the second half at Highbury Stadium helped to turn the tide against the home side as Swindon clinched a precious away victory in Lancashire.

Gladwin was introduced by Town head coach Luke Williams just past the midway point, with John Goddard withdrawn, with the Fleetwood chief pinpointing that move as beginning the chain of events that led to Nicky Ajose's winner in the final 10 minutes.

The Cod Army suffered their first defeat in four games and are third in the League One standings after the shock result, which reignited Swindon's battle to beta the drop.

“Obviously I was disappointed but you are always going to be when you aren’t winning,'' said Rosler.

“I thought that in the first half, we had some very good chances, three or four chances, with the biggest one being from Ash Hunter.

“Second half, their substitution (Gladwin) lifted them, they got a little bit on top of us and a mistake led to their win.

“Overall, I think we need to regroup and go again on Wednesday. There are enough games left for us to reach our target.”

While Swindon's largely unexpected revival has created a log jam at the foot of the table, with as many as six sides still battling it out to avoid joining likely relegation candidates Chesterfield and Coventry, the situation is similar at the other end, with Fleetwood's defeat meaning just three points now separates them in third from Southend in the last play-off spot in sixth.

Fleetwood go to Oxford on Wednesday and Rosler added: “We now have Wednesday and Saturday, two games very close to each other.

“With travel commitments, there will be players playing on Wednesday or Saturday.

“We need them now, we need them to take their chance and hopefully they do.”
