SWINDON Storm signed off for their two-week break with yet another comprehensive victory after thumping Torbay Trojans 58-8 on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Rich Van Sloten took over the side this season and, after the club failed to record a home win throughout last season, the Supermarine-based side are now on a four-game winning streak.

Victor Ofoe, Sean Harper, Rob Leaper, Rui Rosa and Iain Eastham all claimed solitary touchdowns while Phil Bardwell and Dan Thorne both secured doubles.

The start of the season wasn’t what they would have liked after they suffered two defeats in their first two fixtures.

Van Sloten’s troops travelled to Cornwall on the first day of the campaign, only to lose 31-0, followed by a narrow 26-21 loss at the hands of Bristol Apache seven days later.

Since then Storm have managed to turn their season around and win every game since, next up they will face Worcestershire Black Knights on Sunday, July 16.

SWINDON Storm’s Junior Varsity team finished 2-1 from three games as they hosted a National Youth tournament at Ridgeway School.

The hosts opened up against Farnham Knights where the defence, led by defensive captain Lewis Mason, shut out the visitors, Josh Ricketts scoring touchdowns either side of half-time and adding a third after Farnham had scored a safety for an 18-2 triumph.

The Storm defence proved a match-winner in the second game, Joe Cassidy’s efforts lead the charge before the offence, led by starting quarterback JP Osmond, took charge.

Osmond handed off to Luke Collins for a running touchdown before a Cassidy pick-off set up the position from which Ricketts scored his fourth touchdown of the day.

An injury to Storm player Josh Winters meant a delay before their third match against Cobham Cougars, who had yet to concede up to that point.

Despite another strong defensive effort from the home side, the Cougars clinched a 35-6 victory with a series of extraordinary catches.

Osmond threw to Tom Hastings for the Storm’s solitary points.

The junior varsity team are next in action on July 8 at Solent Seahawks in Southampton, where they will play the hosts, Farnham Knights and Berkshire Renegades.
