SUPERMARINE have strengthened their squad with the capture of midfielder Simon Heal.
The 25-year-old was released by Conference South outfit Weston-super-Mare last month, and Marine boss Mark Collier wasted no time in snapping him up until the end of the season.
The former Cardiff City, TNS, Merthyr Tydfil, Haverfordwest County and Cwmbran Town man can also fill in at full-back, and Collier (pictured) said he was delighted to get his man.
"There were a few clubs in for Simon but we managed to convince him to come here," he admitted.
"We've watched him two or three times and he impressed us. We had a friendly against Weston in the summer and he came to note in that match.
"Obviously he was a Weston player so we couldn't do anything about it at the time.
"But a few weeks ago Weston had to balance their books and had to off-load a couple of players.
"Simon was one of them so we made our move."
Heal made his debut on the right of midfield in Supermarine's 1-0 win over Hemel Hempstead on Saturday. And he impressed the Hunts Copse crowd with a tireless display which saw him come close to a debut goal.
Collier said: "Heal was competitive for us in midfield, created a couple of chances and looked pretty lively.
"He comes from Wales, so it's quite a lot of travelling, but that tells you a lot about the lad and how much he want to play for us."
Chippenham Town play host to Bedford tonight, hoping to register their first win of 2008, but boss Adie Mings is refusing to get too worried about his side's stuttering form.
The Bluebirds have suffered three successive goalless draws to find themselves lagging eight points behind the joint top three of King's Lynn, Team Bath and Halesowen Town.
"Going away from home you would always settle for a point, so the results at Corby and Bromsgrove were not too bad," said Mings.
"We have lots of home games coming up so we need to find a way to start scoring again and taking the three points."
