Swindon Town have had one of their upcoming fixtures postponed by the English Football League.
The Robins were set to host second-placed Stevenage in the league early next year, but this has been cancelled due to the would-be visitors’ commitments.
The match, set to take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023, has been postponed as The Boro will be playing in the FA Cup on the day instead.
Stevenage will now take on Premier League side Aston Villa on that weekend in 2023, making the trip to Villa Park.
This news will come as an annoyance to Town and their supporters, who would have wanted to exact revenge for their defeat to The Boro last month.
The Robins succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the Lamex Stadium on Saturday, October 8, despite having 70 percent possession and 11 shots.
It is also worth noting that Town have not beaten Stevenage in six attempts, with their last victory coming back in January of 2018.
This victory was Swindon’s only win in 13 games against The Boro, showing them to be somewhat of a bogey team for Town.
The date for the rescheduling of the match is yet to be announced by either team or the EFL.
