Swindon Town manager Scott Lindsey has teased fans with the possibility of more signings being made by the club following the arrival of Charlie Austin.

The Robins made the eagerly anticipated announcement on Friday the striker would be returning to the club until the end of the season, in a mouth-watering transfer.

Austin played from Town for two years between 2009 and 2011, bagging 37 goals in 65 games, making him a favourite with the Wiltshire faithful.

The striker has played for a whole host of Premier League and Championship clubs including Queens Park Rangers, Burnley, Southampton, and West Bromwich Albion.

He left England for Australian side Brisbane Roar in the summer of 2022, but called time on his stay in Oz after just six months.

As a free agent, Austin was snapped up by Swindon for a special return to the club and manager Lindsey is pleased he's back as the Robins push for promotion.

“I’m delighted to have him on board. He’s a legend here anyway, he went on to have an unbelievable career and he’s back,” said the manager.

“I think he’s going to really add some goals and initial chats have been really positive and he’s really bright around the place.”

Lindsey said Austin would be a valuable asset for Town off the pitch because of his experience.

“We’ve got a very young group and its vital that you have that experience. He will give us loads on the pitch, as he will off it,” he said.

“His experience and his good character will give us loads in the dressing room, and his goals will obviously help.”

Lindsey teased the possibility of the club adding further players to the ranks.

“We are reasonably happy with what we have got as I think we’ve got good strength in depth,” he said. “Will we add to it? Maybe, but we are still at early discussions on that.”
