Stuart Fleetwood said that Swindon Supermarine’s clash with fellow strugglers Hayes and Yeading is not a six-pointer.

Just seven points separates 12th-place Poole Town from the relegation zone in a very tight fight for survival in the Southern League Premier South.

Supermarine sit four points above Tiverton Town in 19th, but every team around them have games in hand in what looks set to be a frantic final six weeks of the season.

Fleetwood’s side travel to Hayes and Yeading on Saturday, a side one point and one place beneath them in the table in what could be a big game in their quest for survival.

However, Supermarine’s head coach was playing down the importance of the game, saying that it does not matter where they get their points from, so long as they pick up enough to be safe.

He said: “It is an important game because you can take points off them and propel yourself up the table a little bit, but I have said to the players that I am not too concerned about where the points come from.

“If we lose to Hayes on Saturday and then go and beat Salisbury next week then we are in a similar position to what people would expect from us.

“I never want my players going in calling a game a six-pointer or the biggest game of the season or anything like that.

“It is just another game for us to try and reach our total regardless of whether we beat Hayes, Salisbury, or Chesham, it doesn’t matter who it is, it is just another game in front of us and we have to go and pick up some points.

“I think if you take points off them then it is a massive, massive boost confidence-wise, but I also think that it is really important not to lose the game.

“They are a point below us, and they have got games in hand, but it is points on the board and another point towards your total.

“I end up talking it down in media because I don’t want that pressure put on it and the players to go out there and do something they have not done all season.

“I think that can happen sometimes when games get built up and I know fans will build it up, but we will go in calm and relaxed, knowing what we have to do to win the game.”
