SUPERMARINE manager Mark Collier has swooped to sign two new players and a third could soon be on his way ahead of tomorrow’s Southern League clash with big-spending Corby Town.

Former Swindon Town youth player Ryan O’Hara and Italian goalkeeper Mickele Visentini have both put pen to paper at Hunts Copse, with Thatcham Town marksman Joe Harris next on the hit list.

Collier insists no deal for Harris has yet been agreed, but his opposite number at Thatcham, Gary Ackling is already resigned to losing his star striker.

Ackling said: “I told Supermarine they could speak to him after our game at Slough and I have told Joe I want a decision before Saturday, otherwise I will not include him in our team to play Witney in the FA Cup.

“My personal feeling is that he will go, it was just a couple of things that he was saying after Monday’s game when he was going around saying thanks to people and that he would see them around.”

Ironically, Harris could feature for Supermarine against Thatcham in the next round of the FA Cup, should his current club come through tomorrow’s tie against Witney.

With the seven day approach period not up until today however, Collier has yet to make the player an offer.

“I will be speaking to Joe on Friday and we will see where it takes us,” he revealed.

“He is a forward who can also play out wide and he would be a player who can strengthen our squad.

“We realise we have been stretched to the limit lately with injuries and suspensions, which is why we need to bring in a few new faces.”

One player who will definitely feature in the Marine squad for the visit of Corby is Mickele Visentini.

The 26-year-old gloveman used to play in Italy’s Serie D, and has been signed as cover for number one Matty Bulman.

Said Collier: “I was tipped off by the Salisbury goalkeeping coach about Mickele.

“He has just moved to Swindon and we needed some back up for Matty.

“He should provide excellent competition.

“We’ve also singed Ryan O’Hara, who I coached as 15-year-old at Swindon Town.

“He went up to Dundee United on a youth contract before signing pro terms at Gretna, so he has plenty of potential.

“He can play at full back or in midfield and will be a useful addition to our squad.”

Full back Danny Allen serves the first of a two-match ban tomorrow, while Nathan Lightbody and Chris Thompson are both suffering from sickness bugs.

Collier expects Corby to provide Marine’s “toughest challenge yet” but is still targeting a maximum three-point haul.

He said: “Their chairman said he has given the manager the biggest non-League budget he has ever given anybody.

“Having a big budget is great, but with that comes added pressure.

“Hopefully we are playing them at a time when all the new players have not quite gelled yet, so we might be able to take advantage of that.”

Elsewhere in the BGB Premier Division, Chippenham Town travel to Rugby.
