KEVIN Amankwaah staked his claim for a starting berth against Walsall on Saturday with an all-action display for Town’s reserves against Salisbury City Youth last night.
Ady Williams’ men were held 2-2 at the Ray McEnhill Stadium, but the manager was thrilled with the performance of the towering full-back.
Williams said: “Kevin was simply outstanding tonight. He typified what a senior player should be doing when he plays in the reserves.
“His attitude and work-rate were spot on and with a performance like that he may have put himself in contention for the weekend.”
Mark Marshall put Town in front and Craig Easton was also on target as the Robins twice surrendered the lead.
Williams fielded a mixed side, with experienced campaigners Easton and Jerel Ifil complementing youth team players like Sam Morris and Andy Westhall.
