JOE Harris grabbed the only goal at Hunts Copse last night as Supermarine progressed in the GX Cup at the expense of local rivals Cirencester Town.

The striker latched onto a through-ball from fellow front man Steve Cook before calmly slotting home from 15 yards.

Luke Hopper wasted a clear cut chance to double the lead with 15 minutes to play, but the miss did not prove costly.

Marine made eight changes to the side that beat Bromley in the FA Trophy on Saturday, and manager Mark Collier admitted it was a “job well done”.

He said: “We achieved what we wanted to tonight both in terms of getting players 90 minutes under their belts and getting the result.

“I was able to rest most of the team from the weekend, but we still put in a strong performance.

“We have some massive games coming up in the next few weeks, so everyone is fighting for places. It was another good night’s work.”

Shrivenham returned to winning ways in the Hellenic League Premier Division with a 5-2 demolition of Harrow Hill.

There were five different scorers for Mark Love’s side, with Mark Peters, Taylor Gill, James Lewis, Shane Davis and Bradley gill all netting.
