HASNEY Aljofree is gearing up for another “massive” weekend as Town look to extend their unbeaten league run to seven matches at Walsall.

With most other teams in League One on FA Cup duty, first round losers Swindon and the Saddlers have the chance to steal a march on some of their rivals.

Last month’s scheduled fixture between the sides was postponed due to a frozen pitch, but Aljofree has turned up the heat ahead of tomorrow’s return trip to the Midlands.

“Even though it’s still quite early in the season you could call this a six pointer,” said the Town captain.

“If we don’t take three points it’s not a nice position to be in, but if do get the win we can push back up towards mid-table.

“We’ve got a game in hand on a few teams, so this weekend is massive really.

“To travel to Walsall last time and see it called off an hour before the game, everyone was gutted.

“Hopefully we will leave smiling this time.”

Performances under caretaker-boss Dave Byrne have been promising of late, with Town taking points off rivals Bristol Rovers as well as promotion contenders Leicester City and Peterborough.

But after conceding late goals against both Rovers and Posh in the last week, Aljofree admits Town must show some more steel.

“Both goals were worldy goals, the one at Rovers had been coming for a while,” he admitted.

“The lads had been under the cosh and Rovers hit the post, so it was only a matter of time before they got some luck.

“It was so disappointing though because it was the last kick of the game.

“Against Peterborough, we shot ourselves in the foot. We went 2-1 up at home and really we should have shut up shop, but again he will never score one like that again.

“You don’t always get the luck when you’re at the wrong end of the table, but we will keep battling.

“It’s six unbeaten in the league now and I think that is a statement for this squad.

“We are confident we can get the victory at Walsall and that’s exactly what we will set out to do.”
