PETER Brezovan admits he had forgotten what a clean sheet felt like, but Town’s goalkeeper is determined to make it two on the spin tonight at Northampton.

The big Slovakian kept only his - and Swindon’s - second shut-out of the campaign at Oldham on Saturday as they held the promotion-chasers to a goalless draw.

Their first clean sheet of the season came, co-incidentally, against Oldham in the reverse fixture back in October, and Brezovan believes Town now have the confidence to repeat the feat this evening against the Cobblers.

“It’s not easy to play at Oldham’s stadium. People find it hard to take points from there, so we have to be pleased with that,” admitted Swindon’s keeper.

“We played well - we have a new manager and new spirit, so hopefully it is going to continue and keep getting better.

“It was great (to keep a clean sheet), but I had forgotten how it felt after the long time since the last one.

“Of course, goalkeepers love to keep clean sheets. It’s a gift if you can do it. But the most important thing is winning the game, not keeping a clean sheet. It would be better to win a game 6-5 than draw 0-0.

“I just want to be focussed and play well. We have to play well as a whole team and bring some points home from there (Northampton).

“Hopefully we will go there full of confidence. I feel well and we have to put everything into it to come away with something.”

Brezovan has firmly re-established himself as Town’s number one since the arrival of boss Danny Wilson in December and is showing the sort of form which earned him admiring glances from the Premier League and Championship 18 months ago.

And the keeper insists having the manager’s trust is a big part in his recent impressive displays, admitting: “I just tried to be focussed on Saturday and do my best.

“I’m confident now. In the past I wasn’t sure that I was going to play, but this makes me better. The manager has faith in me and if he believes in you it is the most important thing, always.

“He knows what he is talking about, and he tries to explain everything he wants from us. This is a good thing.

“Things seem to be heading in the right direction. It’s going to be much better. We have much more confidence now and we just have to get results.”
