DANNY Wilson admits he could still take advantage of the emergency loan system, despite no transfer movement either in or out of the County Ground yesterday.

As the transfer window slammed shut at last night’s 5pm deadline, there is still a glimmer of hope for Football League clubs who are permitted to make temporary moves for players from next week.

Wilson has already brought in loanees Gordon Greer and Hal Robson-Kanu, as well as offering trialists Hamdi Razak and Lescinel Jean-Francois short-term deals until the end of the season.

And he believes another couple of faces could still be added to Swindon’s squad as they battle to escape the League One drop zone.

Speaking yesterday lunchtime, Wilson admitted: “It’s been fairly quiet, I have to say. There were one or two things that may have happened, but it doesn’t look like it will happen now.

“It’s a little disappointing and a bit frustrating, but not unexpected really. So I wouldn’t have thought anybody would have been coming in between now and 5pm.

“We’ve brought big Gordon (Greer) and (Hal) Robson-Kanu into the areas where we really thought we desperately needed to strengthen.

“These other couple of ones would have possibly been the icing on the cake and, who knows, we might be able to do it in the coming months.

“The good thing is though that we are still able to use the emergency loans, which operate seven days after today. So I would like to think we will be able to do something in that as well.”
