THREE players from Swindon Town’s Football in the Community Trust girls development programme led out England Women for their friendly last night against Denmark.

Amy Joliffe, Emily Price and Larrisa Emms were mascots as England faced Denmark at the County Ground, and Town football development officer Shane Hewlett said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the girls to be able to walk out with the England team for the national anthem.

“We have some talented players so it would be great if a girl from our development programme went on to represent their country.”

The club’s Football In The Community Trust hosted another girls football festival at the County Ground recently.

Four schools played friendly matches against each other in two age groups, before being given a comprehensive tour of the stadium and receiving a medal as part of a presentation ceremony.

Hewlett thanked Thamesdown Transport for providing free transport for each school to and from the County Ground and said: “The girls have all worked extremely hard over the term and this was a great way to reward them.

“The games were played in a great spirit and the standard of the football was fantastic.”
