TOWN have taken ex-Cameroon Under 20 international Berlin Ndebe-Nlome on trial - and the striker could play a part in today’s friendly against Cardiff City.

The 21-year-old arrived at the County Ground yesterday to begin training with his prospective new teammates as boss Danny Wilson bids to bolster his understrength goalscoring options.

And the Advertiser understands he could be involved against the Bluebirds this afternoon (kick-off 3pm), providing the club can secure international clearance for the front man.

Ndebe-Nlome first arrived in England in the summer of 2006 when he was snapped up by Portsmouth after impressing boss Harry Redknapp during a trial, and is believed to be a small, quick striker.

He has also turned out for Crawley Town and Belgian outfit KVC Westerlo, and came off the bench as a second half substitute for Livingston earlier this week in a friendly against Plymouth Argyle.

Meanwhile, the Advertiser also understands Wilson was offered the chance to take former Sunderland and Leeds striker Michael Bridges on trial recently.

Town’s boss has made no secret of his desire to add at least two front men to his ranks.

But with concerns over the 30-year-old’s fitness and desire to stay located in the north, Wilson rejected the opportunity to have a look at the forward who was released by Hull City at the end of last season.

The manager is expecting a tough test against a Cardiff side which is likely to include in-demand striker Ross McCormack today.

“I don’t know what their programme is and what their games coming up are, but I would expect this to be a team of strength that they will send,” said Wilson.

“It will be a bit of a yardstick from our point of view to see how we’re doing as the pre-season progresses.

“Hopefully we will have good weather, a good crowd.

“It’s great to play at the County Ground so early and against quality opposition as well.”
