ASIANS made a successful start in defence of their title in the Indoor Cricket League when they cruised home by five wickets against Shrivenham, having restricted their opposition to just 83, despite Mark Whale’s 36.

Wootton Bassett had a similarly easy ride as they beat Nalgo by 40 runs. Sam Lawro compiled 54 as Bassett scored 116 all out.

Faringdon made an inauspicious start to their campaign in Division Two, losing heavily to both Swindon and Nalgo 2nd.

Newly promoted South West began their season in Division Three with a 20-run victory over Ramsbury, despite scoring only 86-4, with Tom Davis making 44 of them.

In reply, only Dave Rushen with 30 offered any resistance.

Cirencester could well be contenders in this division with a comprehensive 36-run win over Woodlands boding well.

Dan Hudson top scored with 38 not out in Cirencester's total of 114-3.

Wanborough 2nd posted a second consecutive victory when they defeated Untied Churches by two wickets.

Churches could only muster 86 all out, Duncan Mead scoring 34.of them.

Steady scoring saw Wanborough home with an over to spare.

Swindon Borough Council marked their debut in the competition with a 72-run thumping of Nalgo 3rd.
