HIGHWORTH Town boss Dave Webb has urged his players to ‘forget’ about Bicester Town’s struggles ahead of the teams’ Hellenic League Premier Division clash tomorrow.

Bicester have yet to win a game this season and face eviction from their Oxford Road ground if they do not pay off a £9,000 debt within 60 days.

To compound matters Paul Berry resigned as manager last month, and new boss Chris Hurley experienced a baptism of fire when he saw his side thrashed 5-0 by Almondsbury..

But Highworth chief Webb warned: “I’m sure they are going to be looking to pick up from a bad spell.

“These games are never easy, it’s just about us doing a professional job and forgetting where they are in the league.

“If you start looking at that then you are going to come unstuck, and we don’t want to be the first team to be beaten by Bicester this season.”

Highworth are sitting comfortably in mid-table at present, safe in the knowledge that they will climb the ladder if they win their games in hand.

And Webb acknowledges that if the Worthians can get their full squad back and string some results together - which has not been the case of late - then they will be challenging in the upper regions of the division.

“We haven’t really had a squad that’s been settled,” said Webb.

“We’ve had suspensions and holidays and people missing, but we’re starting to get everyone back now.

“We need to get some consistency and start scoring more freely, but defensively we’re looking strong.

“The league is more competitive this year, so to get a top-six finish we’re going to have to put a run together, starting on Saturday.”

Worthians captain Tom Cole will miss the game while Wayne Cleverly is still out with an ankle injury.

Elsewhere in the division, depleted Shrivenham face a difficult task when they travel to Witney United.

Boss Mark Love is missing eight first team players with six of those due to go on a stag do, while Ben Carter and Rory Sproule will miss out through injury and suspension respectively.

Love expects to field a young side against mid-table Witney.

The Shrivvy manager added he was looking to sign both a centre forward and a defender in the near future.

Meanwhile, Fairford Town journey to Wantage Town and Malmesbury Vics host Ardley United. Vics are without Leigh Brown, who is away, while Alan Webb still has a rib problem.

Dave Turner is hoping to take his place on the sidelines to watch his Wootton Bassett Town side take on Trowbridge Town - if injury permits.

The Rylands Way chief is due to undergo a knee operation this weekend, the sixth time that knee has gone under the knife, but hopes he can still turn out at Woodmarsh as a spectator.

Bassett’s Mitch Wyatt is a doubt with a groin problem but Chris Oram returns and it is hoped Steve Groom will be back from an ankle injury.

Turner is hopeful of signing two new players before this weekend, but said that if they did sign then they would go straight into the reserve team.

Elsewhere, in-form Purton are away to Easington Sports and Steve May and Justin Miller are both available again.

Troubled Cirencester United journey to Winterbourne United but Cricklade Town have no game.
