MORE than 100 youngsters from across the area took part in a County Special Schools Football Festival hosted by STFC Football in the Community Trust last week.
The event, at Devizes Leisure Centre, was the culmination of seven weeks of coaching sessions delivered by the Trust at all the special needs schools in the county and representatives from the Trust, Swindon Town and the Wiltshire FA were in attendance to hand out awards at the end of the festival.
STFC Football in the Community Trust thanked Marcus Cook, of Cook & Marsh, who sponsored all of the medals for the event, and chairman Mike Spearman said: “It was a real privilege to attend this festival and to see the smiles on all of the participants’ faces.
“The smile on the little girl’s face keeping goal from her wheelchair was indeed a real treat to witness.
“The festival ranks highly on our annual calendar and the Community coaches give all of their best to make it such a special occasion.”
STFC Football in the Community Trust runs a comprehensive disability programme ranging from friendly festivals to competitive fixtures.
