SWINDON Spitfires travelled to Alderbury for the first round of the Wiltshire Cup and came away with an impressive 7-0 win.

It took Spitfires nine minutes to score as Georgia Leonard's header found Mel Bristow to slot home.

A minute later a long range shot from Emma Skinner was too much for the home keeper as she dropped the ball into her net.

The third came in the 35th minute as Leonard ran through the Alderbury defence and hit the back of the net.

A minute later a quick free-kick from Vicky Taylor allowed Skinner to smash home her second of the match, and Spitfires’ fourth.

Five minutes before half time Skinner played through to Cara Costello, who finished past the Alderbury keeper, leaving the scoreline 5-0 to the visitors.

In the second half Bristow's second came as a precise pass from Hook allowed Bristow to slide the ball past the keeper.

The scoring was completed in the 59th minute when Bristow grabbed her hat-trick after a good pass from Skinner.

n Swindon Spitfires’ reserves travelled to Thatcham Town where they comfortably maintained their 100 per cent record in the Thames Valley League with a 9-1 win.

Cat Baird broke free for the first, slotting past the advancing keeper after eight minutes.

Four minutes later Tash Blackwell put Elaine Hall away, who took full advantage of a hesitant keeper to double the lead.

In the 17th minute, Lyndsey Ball capitalised on a defensive error to make it 3-0.

Naomi Bell fired home through a crowd of players for 4-0 on 27 minutes.

After the break Thatcham struggled with a series of Hall corners and eventually Blackwell was able to notch the visitors’ fifth goal.

Two minutes later it was Vicky Wilkes’ turn as she nodded home another Hall corner at the back post.

Hall then made it 7-0 with a 20-yard volley in the 72nd minute, and eight minutes later she put over another corner for Stepien to become the seventh different scorer for the visitors.

Spitfires’ final goal came in the 82nd minute as Wilkes cut in and shot across the keeper to make it 9-0, before the hosts grabbed their last minute consolation.

In the Oxford Girls League, Spitfires’ Under 11s were 6-0 winners at Summertown Stars.

After a slow start Spits got the first goal as Daniella Granato crossed for Charley Reynolds to score.

The visitors stepped up the pressure and Karolayne Byrom put Granato in to score. Byrom then scored a quick hat-trick to make it 5-0 at the interval.

In the second half Granato got her second, putting away a cross from Reynolds.

Spitfires’ Under 12s also picked up a 6-0 win from their trip to Thame. Jordan O’Donaghue bagged herself five goals, Mya McKnight making up the half-dozen.

The Under 10s travelled to Reading for a friendly, beating Caversham 7-1.

In the Wiltshire Girls League, Spitfires’ Under 13s lost out 2-1 to Wootton Bassett in their derby game but remain fourth in the league.

Swindon Town Ladies Under 12s continued their unbeaten start to the season and remain top of the Oxford Girls Football League after a 5-0 home victory against Marston Saints.

A below-par Town struggled to make any inwards against a determined Marston midfield and defence in the first half and when they did break through they found the Saints keeper in fine form.

However, Alice Telling managed two well-taken goals late in the first half to set the hosts on their way. After the break the striker grabbed another two before Amy Joliffe rounded off the scoring with a well-taken lob.

A brace from Michaela Vitale helped Swindon Town Girls Under 14s to a 4-2 victory over Melksham at the weekend.

Nicole Farmer and Charlotte Diff were also on the scoresheet for Town as they ran out comfortable winners in the Wiltshire County League.
