SIMON Ferry wants to extend his stay at the County Ground until the end of the season, and is hoping that a deal will be reached within the next 10 days.

The on-loan midfielder, pictured, told the Advertiser that his agent has been in negotiations with parent club Celtic to prolong his current deal in Wiltshire, and that he would welcome five more months in Swindon.

“I want to stay here until the end of the season and help get us in the top six,” said Ferry.

“My agent spoke to Celtic last week and asked what’s happening and if I can stay until the end of the season.

“They’ve said that they’d get back to us by the end of next week.”

Ferry revealed he has adapted easily to life on and off the pitch with the Robins, and the Scot believes that returning to Glasgow at the turn of the year would be somewhat anticlimactic.

“I’ve been here so long now that I feel a big part of it so I don’t just want to leave in January and that would be it,” he said.

“I’m really enjoying it down here. I’m playing every week and I enjoy training.”

The 21-year-old was also full of praise for Town’s management team, admitting that their belief in his abilities have helped him enhance his game over the past 10 weeks.

“The manager and Peter (Shirtliff, Wilson’s assistant) have been brilliant,” he said.

“I’ve been injured a lot in the past so this is the first time I’ve played for three months, week in, week out.

“At Celtic I’d be playing in a reserve league and we’d play every two or three weeks. I feel as fit as I’ve been for years.”

Ferry claims to be both comfortable and happy in the region which he has called home in recent weeks.

“Wiltshire’s decent. It could have better shops but I’m loving it,” he joked.

“Swindon Town’s a nice football club and the people here have been brilliant so I couldn’t ask for much more.

“(Wilson) has been first class.

“I’ve got good players playing around me and I’m really enjoying the way we’re playing.”
