GARY Horgan admitted Swindon Supermarine will not know the true value of their point at home to Weymouth until after Wednesday night’s game with Redditch United.

The home side trailed twice before both Bradley Gray and Rob Dean equalised to earn a 2-2 draw, which could prove vital in Marine’s bid to avoid relegation from the Southern Premier.

Joint boss Horgan was disappointed not to take all three points, but admitted he will be happier with a draw if they can beat fellow strugglers Redditch in midweek.

“Every point is good, but this is a game we targeted as one where we could have got all three,” he said.

“If we can win against Redditch then this point will look like a point gained, but if we end up losing to them or coming away with a draw, it will feel a little like two points lost.”

Marine found themselves 2-1 down at half time after central defender Sam Poole headed his side’s second from a short corner just before the break, which left Horgan frustrated.

“That goal really changed the half time team talk,” he said. “Before the game we spent time talking about how they will try a short corner and try to get the centre back in round the back, and that is exactly what they did.

“Everyone had specific jobs to do in that situation, and they did not do them and it led to a goal, so we were very frustrated to concede a goal in that way.”

Horgan did not play in the game due to suspension, and although he enjoyed being able to watch his team from the sidelines, he was still itching to be out there on the field.

“You do get a different perspective on the sidelines and you can see different things and different mistakes that get made, but nothing beats playing.

“I still think I can offer something to the team so I still want to be on the field with them.”

Chippenham boss Adie Mings was left ‘gutted’ after his side slipped to a disappointing 1-0 home defeat at the hands of local rivals Cirencester.

Scott Griffin fired in the game’s only goal mid way through the second half, in a game with very few clear-cut chances.

“I’m totally gutted and it’s one of those situations we know all about – a bottom of the league side comes to us, plays 4-5-1 and we struggle to open them up,” said the Bluebirds boss.

“They scrap, they battle and they give 100 per cent and on the day, their 100 per cent was better than ours.

“We didn’t really work their keeper and we make one mistake and they came away winning the game 1-0.

“I just thought we were ineffective offensively and I think it’s something that we have to address because if Alan Griffin doesn’t score, I don’t think we look like we’re going to score from any other angle at this present moment in time.”
