THERE’S nothing like family events to take your eye off the ball, but Gary Horgan aims to avoid such pitfalls for 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

The joint boss has had an eventful week after his partner Clare gave birth to the couple’s second child on Monday and he celebrated his 35th birthday yesterday.

Weighing 8lbs 2oz, Frankie arrived by Caesarean section at Great Western Hospital and is a new sister for three-year-old JJ, the couple’s son.

As if that wasn’t enough, Horgan Senior, alongside fellow joint boss Matt Robinson, will aim to guide Supermarine to success in their hugely-important Southern Premier clash with Barwell at the Webb’s Wood Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Victory will give the South Marston outfit a massive boost in their fight for survival heading into the last game of the season at Cambridge, Currently 19th, Marine are two points behind Banbury, Redditch and Weymouth and while defeat would not necessary spell the end of their campaign, they would be relying on events elsewhere in the last game of the season as well as having to win themselves against Cambridge.

“It’s a big game as they all have been for ages, it seems like we’ve been saying that since the beginning of December,” said Horgan.

“We need to get something out of it but really we need to win, because like it or not, we’ve got to win one of the last two games.

“Realistically I think it (the relegation battle) will still go down to the last game of the season.”

Horgan emphasised the need for 100 per cent effort in tomorrow’s fixture, given that victory would do Marine’s survival hopes the power of good.

“This is where it becomes absolutely critical and I’m sure everyone in the team is well aware of how important the game is,” he said.

“We owe each other, the club and the fans a performance. We need everyone firing on all cylinders.

“I don’t think myself or any of the players should need any extra encouragement, and in fairness over the last 12, 13 or 14 games I think we’ve proved we are up for the fight.”

Centre-back Tom Cole is a doubt with a hamstring problem after coming off early in the second half in the 4-0 defeat to Brackley last weekend.

The defender has not trained all week and will have a fitness test before the game.

Marine are offering reduced admission to Swindon Town season ticket holders tomorrow, with adults and concessions receiving £3 off the price of entry.
