SWINDON Town Ladies will aim to imitate the success of the men’s first-team and bring silverware to the town on Sunday.

After Town men wrapped up the League Two title last Saturday, the women will this weekend target another trophy as they take on Newquay in the Ambassador League Cup final at Torquay’s Plainmoor ground (2pm).

The last time Town’s women were in the final was 10 years ago and they are hoping for revenge after losing 4-3 to Newquay a fortnight ago.

Manager Glyn Evans told the Advertiser that his players deserved a final victory due to their commitment to the cause.

He said: “I’m very pleased with how hard the girls have worked at training, and now we can look forward to the game on Sunday and hopefully bring the League Cup back to Swindon Town.

“My only concern is the players could freeze on such a big occasion, but the girls have deserved this for how hard they have worked this season.”

Evans would also like to register his thanks to former Supermarine assistant coach Tom Jones for helping out with training.

Swindon will take a squad of 16 players to the final, and they are Tamsin Kellett, Natasha Chapman, Amy Baker, Lisa Coe, Laura Stallard, Kelly Nightingale, Kim Reeves, Catherine Reid, Georgia Walters, Hayley Huckin, Alison Witts, Michelle Rich, Abby Picton, Chantelle Lovell, Laura McGlone and Laura Morgan.
