THE name Paolo Di Canio will be a major factor in drawing top quality talent to Swindon Town this summer, according to the manager himself.

Di Canio has yet to make his first move in the transfer market, as he waits for funds to be guaranteed by the club’s investors, although Town have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks.

When the Italian does start his shopping spree, however, he believes both the status of the club and his own prominence in the footballing community will encourage his targets to sign on at the County Ground.

“We have plenty of time to contact the players and this year it will be easier to bring very important players in,” he told the Advertiser.

“We are in League One with a big plan, a good plan.

“In League Two nobody wanted to come from the top of League One or the Championship and go to step back.

“League One should be easier because we are a top club, a big stadium with a fantastic number of fans.

“The plan is very good for the future, there is a winning mentality, there is Paolo Di Canio as manager – why don’t you decide to come to Swindon?”
