BILLY Bodin has had to turn down the opportunity to join up with the senior Wales squad due to his League Two play-off final commitments with Crewe.
Swindon’s on-loan forward was summoned to the Welsh party by manager Chris Coleman yesterday after originally being named as standby for the friendly with Mexico in New York on May 27, but Bodin will not be able to join up with his country as Crewe’s clash with Cheltenham at Wembley falls on the same day.
The decision of whether to choose club or country was ultimately left in Bodin’s hands, with the Welsh FA unable to insist he travelled with the national side as the fixture does not take place on an official international matchday.
