SWINDON Town have this afternoon confirmed the signings of James Collins, Andy Williams and Gary Roberts.

The trio are Town boss Paolo Di Canio’s first signings of the summer, as he bids to revamp his squad for the club’s assault on League One.

Collins scored 16 times to fire Shrewsbury to promotion from League Two last season, while former Yeovil striker Williams found the net 17 times for Yeovil in League One.

Winger Roberts was part of the Huddersfield side which was promoted to the Championship via the play-offs, and scored 31 goals in 147 starts for the Yorkshire side.

Di Canio is pleased to have been able to add the trio to his squad, and believes they can play an important part in the club's bid for a second successive promotion.

"They are genuine guys with talent and ability, and that is why they are here," he said.

"They can bring a winning mentality to a group already with a winning mentality.

"Gary got promoted from League One last season, and Andy scored a lot of goals. Under me they can improve and win more."

Williams revealed the chance to work with Di Canio was too good to turn down.

"I had a bit of interest over the summer, but there are obvious reasons why I came here," he said.

"The manager is one of the best players in the history of the Premier League in my position. It is an ambitious club which is moving forward."

Roberts believes Swindon can emulate former side Huddersfield and challenge for promotion.

"I want to get the winning feeling and taste success, and this is the club which will match my ambitions," he said.

"I spoke with Paolo and he poured out the passion and what he wanted to do. That sold it more than other clubs who were interested."
