ANDY Williams’ desire to compete at the top end of League One is what convinced the striker to leave Yeovil to join Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon Town revolution.

The 25-year-old fired 17 goals last season as the Huish Park side finished 17th in League One, but opted to make the switch to the County Ground after his contract expired in a bid to fulfil his ambitions.

Williams has signed a two-year deal with the club despite having a number of offers elsewhere, and is expecting to be competing at the top end of the division.

“A big reason why I came here was my ambition, because I have spent two seasons League One struggling at the wrong end of it and now I want to be in a team that is winning every week, and is creating chances for you,” he said.

“It was hard to leave Yeovil because I made a lot of friends there, and it is always hard to leave a club, but for me I want to move on and that was the ambition that I had.

“It is an ambitious club which is moving forward, and that is what I want to be part of.”
