THE new management team at Wiltshire League outfit Wroughton are hopeful they can coax a few familiar faces back for the 2012/13 season.

Stef Kuczynski and Robbie Broadbent have recently taken over at the Weir Field and have been tasked with getting a side together that can improve on a dismal 13th-placed finish last time out.

With a large number of the squad seemingly bound for Chiseldon along with the previous management, the new joint bosses are on the lookout for fresh talent.

Kuczynski explained: “We know we’re starting again as the majority of the team will probably go to Chiseldon.

“Wroughton was always a hard place to go in recent years and if some of those players come back then straight away we will have half a team.

“They were always in the top five or six - apart from last season - so if we can get some of those lads to come back and combine them with the new lads then we can put a good team together.

“We’ve had two decent turnouts at training so far and anyone else that wants to come along is welcome to do so.

“Some players playing higher up might see us as a good second option.”

Kuczynski was recently in the managerial hotseat at Purton Reserves, while the younger Broadbent has played for the Red House side.

And the pair were happy to take over at Wroughton to keep a side going who have a rich history in the Wiltshire League.

“Wroughton have been around for a long time and it would have been a shame to see them go out of the league,” added Kuczynski.

“You can’t make any predictions about how the season will go because teams change from one season to the next, but we’ll be looking for top half.

“They were third from bottom last year, so it has to get better.”

Wroughton train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Weir Field (6.30pm) and players new and old are welcome to attend.

The club is also looking for sponsorship to fund its campaign in the Premier Division, with cashflow at a premium in local football.

“It’s a dear game now so we’re begging, stealing and borrowing from anyone we can,” said Kuczynski.

“We’ll be holding race nights and a few other events to try and raise a few bob, but we’ve got enough to start the season with for now.”
