BEVERSBROOK chief Lee Ashby was left ‘gutted’ after his side were dumped out of the Corsham Print Senior KO Cup by defending champions Southbrook.

The match was evenly poised at 1-1 at half-time with Lavel King equalising for Beversbrook just after the half-hour mark.

Ashley Gascoigne, a former Beversbrook player, had earlier given the away side the lead minutes after kick-off courtesy of a spectacular overhead kick.

But Southbrook managed to edge ahead in the second half and held on for a 2-1 win, with goalkeeper Max Schofield working wonders between the sticks to keep the home side at bay Beversbrook boss Lee Ashby said: “We were so annoyed to go out - their keeper was the best player by miles.

“We had 10-plus great chances but he stopped everything but our one goal. It was very gutting.

“They scored a wonder goal as well as the only other clear chance they had.

“I can’t be too disappointed as the lads played great and the better team lost, but we had high hopes for the cup.”
