SWINDON Manor and Westlecot both face a busy weekend with men’s and ladies national championship team and Wessex League matches taking place today and tomorrow.

Rodbourne-based Swindon Manor have been drawn to face Fairford in the ladies’ Yetton Trophy, with two rinks (fours) at home in Rodbourne and two away in Fairford.

After an opening-round bye Westlecot ladies enter the Yetton Trophy this morning in a second round tie against Oxford City and County.

Should Manor and Westlecot both be successful ithey would meet in the third round on November 19.

Today also sees the men’s equivalent, the Denny Cup (national knock-out inter-club championship) stage second round ties.

Westlecot men face Brockworth, Gloucester side, MidGlos IBC this morning, having been eliminated by them 89-62 in the first round last season.

Tomorrow, Westlecot men are back in action again, this time in an east section match in the men’s regional competition, Wessex League, when they meet Banbury Cross (10am).

Last season Westlecot were the east region champions topping the table after winning all nine of their east section matches but made a quick exit from the end of season play-offs.

The Old Town club made the perfect start to their 2016/17 campaign last month with a comprehensive victory over Chipping Norton.

Swindon Manor will be looking to build on their opening 83-77 success over Banbury when they face Oxford City & County in a re-arranged game from last month.
