Ryan Martin says there will be no stopping him from making his return to the ring this autumn.

The former England amateur has not fought since making his debut in March due to a problem with his right hand.

And with the 20-year-old light-welterweight expected to get the results of the scan he had on September 9, he insists that he will be fighting this autumn no matter what the specialists say.

“I’ve been told that it is likely going to be November 1,” Martin said. “I have spoken with Keith (Mayo, Martin’s manager and promoter) and it is looking good for then.

“I can’t wait, it has been too long, I need this fight. I the consultant tells me that I need an operation it is going to have to wait until after this fight.

“I’d rather fight with a little bit of pain in my right hand and not fight until the new year.”

The former junior ABA champion says that he has been stepping up the work in the gym since getting his provisional November date and he has been able to hit more with his injured hand.

“I have been ticking over in the gym for so long now, it is nice to finally have a goal to work towards,” the ex-Walcot amateur said.

“I have been able to hit the bag moderately harder with my right hand recent and it good that I have got this fight to keep me motivated.

“I have said for a while that I have to at least one more fight before the end of the year.”

Martin made his professional debut on March 13 when he faced durable Midlander Jason Nesbitt over six two minute rounds.

The Swindon youngster put on a classy display to claim a points success over the awkward veteran.
