RYAN Martin is looking to make a statement when he returns to the ring next month.

The former England and Walcot amateur has not fought since making his professional debut back in March due to a hand injury.

Now the 20-year-old is eager to get his career in the paid ranks up and running when he boxes on the By Any Means Necessary bill at the Oasis Leisure Centre on November 1.

Though the welterweight, who defeated wily veteran Jason Nesbitt on his debut over six two minute rounds, is still to discover who his opponent is, Martin is confident of maintaining his winning start.

“I’m feeling confident, I feel like I’m going to get the win,” Martin told the Advertiser.

“I’m feeling a lot stronger now, I know if I hit these boys on the chin they are going down.”

The former junior ABA champion admits the past six months has been a frustrating time for him and accepts that people maybe questioning his desire to fight because of his inactivity.

While Martin is going to have to make sure his right hand is carefully wrapped before fights, he says he has to get back into the ring.

“I have been told by doctors now it won’t do any permanent damage (to the hand),” he said.

“I wanted to stay active, (and) get a few wins under my belt and just keep doing the job.

“I know people will think maybe I’m not interested, (but) I have always been here, I have always wanted to fight.

“Boxing is a serious sport and you can’t go in if you are not ready.”

With his fledgling career already put by back by six months, Martin insists he is not going to try and make up for lost time and let his frustrations get the better of him.

“I know in my head what I want to do, I know I’m not in it for a hobby. I’m in it to make something of myself (and) I want to get titles,” the former two-time Golden Gloves winner said.

“I’m not putting any time limit on myself. I’m young, so it is step by step to make sure I do it right.

“Boxing is not one of those sports that you can go in with frustrations , any time I have done that I have been slapped.

“I have got to be composed and that is what I’m going to do.”

Tickets for the By Any Means Necessary show are priced £60 VIP/ringside or £35 unreserved seating. For more information visit www.kmpromotions.co.uk.
