LEWIS Roberts put in brilliant performance to claim a unanimous points decision over Tyler Cooper in Weymouth.

The Fitzpatrick's Boxing Gym youngster dominated his opponent from Poole ABC, who received standing eight counts in the second and third rounds.

Coach Paddy Fitzpatrick said: “In the changing room before the fight, everyone couldn’t take their eyes off the Poole lad.

“He was so impressive warming up but when Lewis got in the ring, he boxed beautifully and found him with some quality shots.”

Mitch Dodson made his return to the ring after more than a year against Ferndown’s James Lee in an 80kg contest.

In a close, entertaining fight, Dodson produced the cleaner work in the second round but it was Lee who claimed a split decision victory.

Fitzpatrick added: “It was an excellent fight. The decision could have gone either way.

“Mitch’s attitude throughout the contest was excellent and it was a pleasure to watch.”

Drew back in the Hunt

WALCOT boxer Drew Hunt shook off the ring rust to win his first contest in almost a year at the Pinewood Club event in Bracknell.

The 12-year-old encountered Oscar Gray from the host club in an exciting 42kg match and from the outset, the Dorcan schoolboy maintained a good guard and attacked with fast left jabs and straight rights to take the first round.

During the middle session, the Pinewood southpaw raised his game to score with straight shots of his own and redress the balance.

With everything depending on the final round, the Walcot boxer counter-punched brilliantly as Gray attacked, landing with several straight rights to take the round and a split decision win.

Walcot boxer Mikey McDonagh notched up his second win of the season with an impressive victory against Charlie Hill 40kgs match in Birmingham.

McDonagh countered his opponent with fast left jabs and straight rights to shade a close round before dominating the final two sessions for a unanimous points decision.

His older brother Johnny was unfortunate not to complete a family win double after narrowly losing out to Ramatullah Sher.

Davis dominates in Wales

TWO Cirencester ABC boxers headed to Wales for the Cymcarn ABC show.

First up for Cirencester was Dave Davis against the host club’s Josh Edwards.

From the bell, the Welsh boxer came flying out of the traps trying to rough Davis up with flurries of punches, with the Cirencester youngster on his toes catching Edwards with left and right hand punches and straight right-hand punches.

The second round saw Edwards warned for a low punch as he again came steaming in but Davis caught him with some hard combination shots to take the unanimous decision.

Freddie Nicoll, boxing at 69kg, was next up for Ciren and he faced a tough Welsh southpaw in Shane Goodall from Penyrheol ABC.

Nicoll landed with some stiff left-handed punches in the opening round, with the Welsh boxer looking for the big shots to take Nicoll out. The Cirencester boxer kept his guard high throughout the bout boxing cleverly off the jab.

Nicoll caught Goodall with cracking combination punches that seemed to rock him.

The last round saw Nicoll, seeking victory, catching his opponent with a five-punch combination, however, the Welsh boxer was awarded a split points win.
