DANNY Bharj insists he will have more confidence in his fitness when his next bout comes around.

The former Walcot and England amateur will face Melksham’s Liam Richards on the Lights Outs show on Saturday, October 24, at the Oasis Leisure Centre.

The fight for Bharj will be his third in the paid ranks, and his second under new trainer Richard Farnan, just six weeks after his last.

The 27-year-old claimed a shut-out points success over Ibrar Riyaz on September 12 in his last bout and he will be looking for an even better display this time around.

“I’m buzzing about being back in Swindon. We took a good crowd to Gloucester and it should be an electric night in Swindon this time,” Bharj said. “I have shaken the ring rust off now. I didn’t lose a round (in Gloucester), I got caught with two shots, but there are always things you can work on.

“I think in the third round (of the Riyaz fight) I questioned my fitness, and then in the fourth I realised I’d put in the work - I hadn’t had a camp like that, I wasn’t used to it.

“It was more of a confidence thing, rather than me being unfit.”

During the win over Riyaz, Bharj showed near flawless foot work and that is something the former ABA junior champion says that he has always possessed.

“I have always been good on my feet. That is something I have brought from the amateurs and is one of my main attributes,” Bharj said.

“It's always defence first and get out of the way. I’d get out of the way first before thinking about landing a punch.

“The movement was spot on (against Riyaz), maybe (I need to) up the work rate (this time).”

When Bharj finally made his professional debut in February he came back over six two minute rounds before stepping up to four threes in Gloucester and, while this fight at the Oasis will be over the same distance, he is looking to step up.

“It is still a learning game. As soon as we have a few more fights we are not looking to stay boxing journeyman, we are looking to step up but we are not going to rush things,” he added.

Tickets for the Lights Out show are priced £35 unreserved or £60 VIP and are available from Bharj or for more information visit www.kmpromotions.co.uk
