JAMIE Cox propelled himself into the top 10 of Britain’s super-middleweights in 2015.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a successful 12 months in the ring last year after an absence of 20 months due to injury.

The Swindon southpaw claimed three first round stoppages, the final one coming in just 64 seconds and claimed BoxNation’s Punch of the Month award for November.

With the WBO European title now firmly around his waist and his promoter Frank Warren pushing to make him mandatory for the British crown, Cox was ranked seventh in Boxing News’ annual British rankings.

Trowbridge’s Nick Blackwell moved up two places in the middleweight division as he won and then successfully defended the British title twice.

Bang Bang, who is set to meet Chris Eubank Jr in the spring, is now ranked fourth in the country behind WBO world champion Billy Joe Saunders, former WBO title holder Andy Lee and Eubank.

Lawrence Bennett moved up two places in the cruiserweight division despite a quiet 12 months.

After quickly dispatching of Jamie Hearn last March to defend his Southern Area title, Bennett then saw his English title fight with Matty Askin back in October end in controversy as both men fell out the ring.

Having now relinquished his Southern Area belt and the Askin rematch set for next month, the 33-year-old Bad Boy is now ranked 14th in the country after ending 2014 in 16th, while fellow Swindon cruiserweight moved up to 31st from 34th after winning his three fights in 2015.

English super-lightweight champion Joe Hughes is now considered the 12th best 140lb fighter in the UK - a leap of nine places.

The Malmesbury man won the English strap in July and then successfully defended it in December.

Unbeaten welterweight Ryan Martin leapt 42 places in the Boxing News rankings after four victories as he moved up to 61st, while town rival Garvey Kelly moved up to 85th , a jump of 31 places from 116th, having won two and lost two.

Kelvin Young will be hoping for better things in 2016 as his two draws and one win last year saw him drop in the super-middleweight rankings from 17th to 22nd.

However, the Penhill pugilist could be just one fight away from the English title as his faces former Premier League footballer Leon McKenzie in a final eliminator at the Copperbox Arena on January 30.

The Paddy Fitzpatrick-trained light-heavweight Sam Smith goes straight in at 50 following his successful debut last month, while Swindon-based Tariq Quaddus, who has stepped away from the sport to concentrate on his day job, moved up 12 places in the 175lb category to eighth, despite just having one fight last year - a six-round points win.

Danny Bharj is ranked 76th out of 103 lightweights after a successful debut year, winning all three of his contests, while Joe Beeden moved up from 51st to 46th in the super-featherweight division.
