JAMIE Cox is back in the hunt for a world title after the WBO restored him to their monthly rankings.

The 29-year-old was dropped from the governing body's April world rankings for the super-middleweight category after he was sent to prison for 26 weeks for assault and harassment, 20 weeks for violence to secure entry and 12 weeks for criminal damage.

However, following his successful appeal against his assault charge and sentence, Cox was released from prison and is looking to get back in the mix in the super-middleweight division and is once again ranked fourth by the WBO.

Before his conviction in March, Cox was on the verge of being one bout away from a world title shot after the governing body asked for the Swindon boxer to fight in a final eliminator.

Cox, though, must wait before he can return to action as his boxing licence remains suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control following his conviction at Croydon Magistrates Court in March.

While Cox has one eye on a potential fight with current WBO world champion Gilberto Ramirez, the undefeated former Commonwealth light-middleweight champion looks to be a collision course with Luke Blackledge.

Cox tweeted about the reigning Commonwealth super-middleweight champion after the 25-year-old said prior to retaining his title at the weekend: “To be honest, I’d view that as a backward step (a fight with Cox).

“I want fights that’ll move me forwards. Whereas Callum Smith is destroying top kids, Cox just knocks numpties out. They need to bring something I want otherwise there would need to be very good money involved.”

And the former Walcot and England amateur responded on Twitter saying: “I heard Blackledge found his balls. There’s enough talk get your promoter to talk to @frankwarren_tv pick a date and prepare for the wrath.”
