LEWIS Roberts put in an impressive performance for Devizes ABC at the weekend as he ended one of the unbeaten record of an opponent from the Bristol-based Barton Hill club.

The teenager, who trains at Fitzpatrick’s Gym in Ferndale Road and boxes under the Devizes banner, was in action in the 52kg division on the Barton Hill show.

Roberts had a late change of opponent as he was due to face the home club's Jake Fitzpatrick, who he had already beaten earlier in the spring in Devizes.

However, despite his opposite number holding an unbeaten three-fight record, Roberts took the decision.

“Lewis was fantastic. I was really impressed with him on Saturday,” said trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick.

“He fought a guy who was unbeaten but he never once lost or looked like losing control.

“Both fighters gave their all and you could see that the other guy was visibly upset – he didn’t like losing, but he should be proud of his performance.

“Lewis has had a fantastic end to the season. He hardly boxed at the start of the year and he is now wrapping up the season with a fight in Dorset this weekend.”
